G. Loomis Roaring River Two-Handed Series Fly Rods

Traditional Style

Roaring River - Greased Line, Traditional Style Spey

Jock Scott over a century ago wrote of Greased Line fishing as performed by A.H.E. Wood to present a fly broadside to Salmon to entice the salmon to strike. This TRADITIONAL form of spey casting maintains a relatively fixed line length of 65-100 feet allowing you to cover water without retrieving or lengthening line on each cast; keeping you less tired and more focused on your prize. These powerful designs use the full bend of the rod, flexing through the mid-section when fully loaded. The ROARINGRIVER GREASED LINE SERIES of two-hand rods offer the ultimate combination of power and grace in a rod and provide you perfect swing speed and fly control. For spey casts from 50 to 150' the RoaringRiver Greased Line two-hand rod series will truly allow you to fish the water "Fine and Far off."

To address the TRADITIONAL style of two-hand casting, our field experts have helped to define the ROARINGRIVER GREASED LINE RODS; nine rods ranging from a 14' #8-9 wt to a 17'#10/11 wt. Designed to cast long belly floating lines using a long casting stroke, this traditional form of spey casting maintains a fixed line of 65 to 100 feet. They allow you to cover water without retrieving or lengthening line on each cast; keeping you less tired and more focused on the prize. These powerful designs use the full bend of the rod, flexing through the mid-section when fully loaded.

GREASED LINE GLX - The Greased Line GLX is crafted with our proprietary GLX grapite along with the finest for components available today. Featuring Hopkins and Halloway guides and exquisitely crafted Portuguese cork handles, fitted with a special composite core end-cap and fore-grip. G. Loomis exclusive offset-oval sculptured barrel reel seat, each with an ivory style insert engraved with a fly graphic.

GREASED LINE DEVERON - A special graphite blend needed for the optimum actions to cast long belly lines using methods as traditional as the Deveron River itself. Featuring premium Hopkins and Holloway components and beautiful Portuguese cork handles.

Roaring River Stinger Series - Scandinavian Style - Fast Action

So what's the big deal about the way we SCANDINAVIANS get our Spey cast out there? Since its beginnings in the 1960's, Scandinavian influence from top tournament casters and fishermen, schooled on famous Salmon/Seatrout rivers of Sweden and the west coast of Norway, have played a mojor role in the development of our highly versatile style. Our style provides tremendous distance, depth and presentation control, all with minimal effort. We use a looped Shooting Head line, available in differing densities, ranging in length from 34 to 42 feet depending on rod length along with thin diameter shooting line. Teamwork from a fast butt hand stroke and relative short upper hand stroke, (overall about half the movement of traditional style casting), a sudden stop to unload, forms narrow loops that can slice bread. These very narrow loops help make very long casts turn right over. This style cast is most effective with faster taper, yet very light rods. Enter G.Loomis STINGER SERIES two-hand rods. These rods have just the right action, a powerful butt transitioning smoothly to a fast tip that will deliver the razor loops characteristic of the Scandinavian method of spey casting. Our style will keep you on the water longer, a smile on your face, and without a case of the "jelly arms."

For the needs of the SCANDINAVIAN style of casting, we offer the ROARINGRIVER STINGER series. With eight rods, ranging from 12'6" to 15', these rods were designed to optimally cast floating or intermediate shooting heads of 33 to 46 ft. This is the most recent development in two-hand casting, a much faster, shorter stroke using the lower hand (underhand casting). These rods help you generate high line speed and give you great shooting distance casts. With a fast action taper, these rods let you make overhead false casts, generating the highest line speed possible. That's assuming you have sufficient room for back casting, such as gravel bar or ocean beaches.

STINGER GLX - At first glance you'll notice the nickel titanium recoil guides by REC, which are different both in looks and function. Weighing about as much as one individual traditional guide, the total weight of the rod is noticably lighter. They're also flexible, making a mistake like catching a tree branch, nothing but a slight hang up. Exquisitely crafted Portuguese cork handles with a special composite cork end-cap and fore-grip fitted to GLoomis exclusive offset-oval sculptured proprietary GLX graphite tapered to the exact standards of Skandinavian style casting.

STINGER ALTA - These tods help you generate very high line speed thanks to a special graphite blend forulated for a fast action. With premium Hopkins and Halloway components and beautiful Portuguese cork handles, the Alta offers everything you could want for Scandinavian style casting.

Roaring River Dredger Series- Skagt Style - Medium Action

The term "SKAGIT CASTING" was coined in the early 1990's to describe on offshoot system of spey casting being used at the time by steelheaders in the Skagit River area. It was mostly characterized by its relatively short shootinghead lines. However in its original context, the term skagit casting described a method of casting that exercised one particular premise to accomlish its casts- the sustained anchor concept. This works off the principles of rod loading that are the opposite of contacts spey casting. sustained anchor casting uses the "unsticking" of a thoroughly "stuck" flyline from the river's surface as the mechanism for creating casting energy. Allowing you to change the direction of the cast and providing the primary mechanism for loading the rod, the casts that work best with this concept are the Circle Spey, Snap T. The Perry Poke and Skagit style Doublespey.

The ROARINGRIVER DREDGER SERIES is designed with a moderate/fast taper and softer action to balance the medium stroke required to cast short to medium belly lines used for these techniques, from the light 12'9", #6/7GLX, to the powerful 14', #9/10.

When you need to get down fast in swift, deep drifts, the new ROARINGRIVER DREDGER will comfortably manage the sinking tips and weighted flies needed for SKAGIT style casting. The seven models, ranging from 12'9" #6/7 to 14' #9/10, are designed to throw short to medium belly 38 to 62 ft. lines using the balanced medium casting stroke, refined over time by the northwest steelhead fishermen. Requiring less back cast space than traditional casting, this series of rods provide excellent distance with some shoot to the cast.

DREDGER GLX - This is the top of the Dredger line, featuring proprietary GLX graphite along with the finest rod components available today. With nickel titanium recoil guides by REC these cast as slick as they look. Exqisitely crafted Portuguese cork handles with a special composite cork end-cap and fore-grip are fitted to exclusive GLomis offset-oval sculptured barrel real seat, each with an ivory style insert engraved with a fly graphic.

DREDGER KISPIOX - For a balanced medium casting stroke, this special graphite belnd is tailored to the exact specifications needed to perform Skagit style casts. With Hopkins and Holloway components and beautiful Portuguse cork handles, the Kispiox rods are as beautiful and as powerful as the river they're named after.
